Introducing Me

Welcome to truelylj! I’m LJ, a teenage writer and reader from the United States. I’ve been interested in starting a blog for quite some time, and I suppose I finally made the push to follow through. I’ve ran a writing/book Instagram, @truelylj, since 2021.

I started that account to share my love of books and writing. I’ve been an avid reader my whole life, but only started writing four years ago. I love connecting to people to share similar interests as me.

I mainly read fantasy, although I also enjoy mysteries and romances as well. Some of my current favorite books are the Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo, Once the Upon a Broken Heart trilogy by Stephanie Garber, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson, and The Hunger Games by Suzanne Colins.

As for writing, my reading taste reflects my writing as well. I mostly write fantasy, but I would love to experiment with other genres. I’ve been very indecisive with my writing projects in the past, but in September, I resolved to stick to one project. That project is “TBC”, a young adult fantasy surrounding a girl who flees her home and discovers her new one is not at all as she previously thought. I have about 70,000 words. I often share content surrounding “TBC” on my Instagram.

Outside of writing and reading, I have a few other hobbies. I enjoy drawing (although that wasn’t always the case) and I play guitar. I’m also a Girl Scout, and have been one for nearly ten years. I’m currently working on my Gold Award, which is the highest award one can earn.

Some of my favorite artists are Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Noah Kahan, Gracie Abrams, Maisie Peters, and Mitski. I’ve always wanted to travel, and have a good amount of it. I live for history, and my Airpods get me through the school day. I have a dog (Minnie) and two kittens (Circe and Apollo – yes, of course I named them after Greek mythological figures). I want to live in a city, like New York City, London, Chicago, Amsterderdam, or Paris. I’ve moved around a lot, and so far I’ve lived in four states. I have social anxiety and I’m an ambivert (introvert in big crowds, extroverted around people I’m comfortable with).

Well, that’s a lot about me! Thank you so much for your support and interest in my story. I can’t wait to start this new blogging era of mine.
