My Favorite Underrated Authors
There are so many lesser-known authors whose books I loved, or those who I think deserve so much more hype on bookstagram/booktok.
Claire M. Andrews, author of the “Daughter of Sparta” trilogy. These books are so good! They’re a retelling of Daphne and Apollo.
Madeline Miller, author of “Song of Achilles” and “Circe”. More Greek mythology retellings! “Song of Achilles” is somewhat popular on bookstagram, but I still think she deserves so much more hype.
Hafsah Faizal, author of “We Hunt the Flame” duology. I loved this duology! It’s a fantasy young adult novel, following a girl who travels across the world to find a magical item. I never hear this book talked about? The world is so immersive and the characters so relatable and loveable.
Lynette Noni, author of “The Prison Healer” trilogy. Another fantasy, but these books are so worth your time and money. The heroine has to decide between her blood family and found family and the angst and pain is worth it.
Maureen Johnson, author of the “Truly Devious” series. I’ve only read the first book so far, but I’m obsessed with murder mystery novels. It’s so good, and I’m still so early in the storyline. If you liked Holly Jackson’s “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” series, then you would definitely enjoy this series!
Rebecca Mix, author of “The Ones We Burn”. I think this is the only book she’s released, but it’s so good! I read the whole thing (all 491 pages of it) in three days, during school. It was such an addicting story and will leave you rooting for the characters. I’m obsessed with it. I remember watching Mix’s Instagram reels before (I think?) it got released.
I hope you check out these well-deserving authors and give them more hype! There may be “already existing hype” around them, but I’m not sure because I haven’t seen any. If there are more authors I should check out, please let me know. Thank you for reading!
