a guide to dark academia

i think we can collectively agree as a community that dark academia is the autumn aesthetic. late night studying at cafes, cozy sweaters and pleated skirts, doc martens and glasses, satchels, rain, classical music. it’s the best. these are some things i feel that can make your autumn season feel this way.

  • reading while being covered in blankets

  • writing poetry by candlelight

  • vintage shopping with friends

  • classical music

  • art museum field trips

  • turtlenecks, sweaters, blazers in muted tones

  • glasses with neat frames

  • knee high socks (bonus points if you’re wearing mary janes or doc martens)

  • playing chess

  • drink tea, hot chocolate, or coffee

  • romanticize studying by going to libraries or cafes, listening to music, taking nice notes and annotations

  • solving riddles or logic puzzles

  • sketch or paint outside when its cool and crisp outside

  • read old plays (ex: shakespeare), speculative fiction, classics, and memoirs

  • a brown lip combo

  • lana del rey

  • leather-bound notebooks and journals

i hope that by now you can tell that autumn is my favorite season. thank you for reading and see you next week!
