May Reading Recap

Welcome back to the blog! I apologize for the lack of posts. The school year and finals season finally ended so that means I’ll have much more time to dedicate to the blog. Anyways, these are the books I’ve read in May (which is quite a lot)!

  • Keeping 13 by Chloe Walsh (problematic author). 4/5 stars. I’ve really enjoyed reading the Boys of Tommen series. The relationships are interesting but the book also addresses other important topics.

  • The Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare. 5/5 stars. I loved this book. Historical fiction/fantasy is one of my favorite genres. The characters were all very loveable and I found the plot very interesting.

  • The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. 3/5 stars. I had to read this book for school, but it was pretty interesting to read. It’s a nonfiction work about the serial killer during the Chicago Worlds’ Fair in 1893.

  • Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. 4/5 stars. This is my new comfort book. It was fantastic. I loved all of the characters and the romance was amazing. I can’t wait for the sequel.

  • Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez. 3.5/5 stars. It was pretty good, but in the beginning I was indifferent. It took a while for me to like it. I didn’t really feel a connect to the characters, but they were still interesting.

  • The Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare. 5/5 stars. I think I liked this one even more than The Clockwork Prince. The ending was very satisfying. This love triangle was actually enjoyable to read and I like that Tessa had a friendship with both Will and Jem before she became romantically involved with either of them. I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in the Shadowhunters universe.

  • Saving 6 by Chloe Walsh (problematic author). 4/5 stars. I love the dual point of view and the different tropes. I love the dynamic and humor used. The cameos from the other characters give me life.

  • Ruthless Vows by Rebecca Ross. 4/5 stars. I’m obsessed with Iris and Roman. I desperately want to see more moments between them. This book broke my heart.

  • House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin A. Craig. 3.5/5 stars. I read this for a teen book club I’m part of. It was interesting and the vibes were great, but there were some aspects that I wasn’t a fan of. Some of the names didn’t really fit (Annaleigh I’m sorry girl), and it got confusing at times. The worldbuilding is fascinating, though, and I love the sibling relationships.

  • Redeeming 6 by Chloe Walsh (problematic author). 5/5 stars. The end made me very happy. Throughout the book I was just waiting for the happy ending (and to see the events line up with the events described in Binding 13).

  • Taming 7 by Chloe Walsh (problematic author). 4/5 stars. I loved the Gibsie and Claire moments so much. Since I started the series last month, I’ve been waiting to read this. The one thing that I didn’t like was the end. Minor spoiler: Claire could have handled the information much better, but she didn’t necessarily have malicious intent.

Thank you for reading! I had a great reading month and I’m glad I get to share it with you guys. See you next Saturday!
