Books I’d Like to See

Welcome back to the blog! Today I’ll be listing off specific books that I’d love to read and I want more of.

  • Steampunk fantasy/dystopian novels. I think the only ones I’ve read somewhat similar to this are the Lunar Chronicles and The Clockwork Angel, but those aren’t really what I’m searching for. I’m looking for something like Six of Crows but a little more sci-fi?

  • This one isn’t terribly specific, but I want to read about more mythology. Any mythology. I always see European mythology. I love Greek retellings, but I want to see more diversity on booktok. I’m sure there are loads of mythological retellings from other cultures, and I just need to find them, but I really want to see more of them on booktok more.

  • Dystopian books with the vibes of the early 2010s. Give me books reminiscent of The Hunger Games, Divergent, and The Maze Runner. I love that genre so much! My middle school obsession was that genre, and I’ve rewatched The Maze Runner movies repeatedly since then (tell me why HBO Max only has the second movie but not the first or third… please I can’t continue renting them-).

  • Pirates and the found family trope, similar to the Pirates of the Caribbean. I’ve read Daughter of the Pirate King, and it was a good book, but I really wanted more found family. There’s so much potential there and I would love to read a book like that.

  • A book that has a similar vibe to The Princess Diaries. I have always loved Anne Hathaway, I can’t be the only one. When I was younger, I desperately wanted her red ball gown from the second movie. I loved the closet and suite scene from the second movie as well. Please, I would love a romance book with an old money aesthetic (maybe a mix of What a Girl Wants, Red White & Royal Blue, and The Inheritance Games??).

That's all I can think of at the moment, but I’m sure there’s a lot more that I haven’t thought of yet. Thank you for reading and I’ll see you next week!
