classic books
i apologize for the lack of posting on here the past few weeks — life has been hectic! today’s post is about the (quite short list) of classic books i’ve read and whether or not i recommend them.
little women - this is one of my favorite books of all time. the messages and the themes are just beautiful and i adore the characters. 100/10 recommend!
the scarlet letter - i had to read this one for school, and it was so difficult to get through. the writing is from centuries ago and it was hard to follow. it ends up being personal preference, but i can’t imagine someone putting themselves through that struggle for fun.
hamlet - also for school, but i kind of liked it? the only downside was that i had a long-term substitute teacher who had no idea what he was doing so… but other than that the story was interesting! would recommend.
romeo and juliet - once again, i had to read it for school. what i didn’t like was that (since i was in middle school), we had to read it in class, which i hated. i would have liked it a lot more if i got to read it independently. again, i think this comes down to personal preference.
jane eyre - i won’t lie, i’m only halfway (ish?) through this book, and i’m finding it a bit difficult to get through. i’m determined to finish it, though, because of how well-known it is.
the classics on my tbr:
anna karenina by leo tolstoy
the trial by franz kafka
pride and prejudice by jane austen
the picture of dorian gray by oscar wilde
frankenstein by mary shelley
the bell jar by sylvia plath
adventures of huckleberry finn by mark twain
angela’s ashes by frank mccourt
that’s it for today’s blog post. thank you all and see you next week!
